Your First Week With an AI Voice Agent: A Simple Launch Checklist
A day-by-day plan for getting an AI voice agent live in a small business without surprises, from picking one call type to reviewing the first recordings.
Most small businesses don't fail with AI voice agents because the technology is weak. They stumble because they try to automate everything on day one. Here is a calm, one-week plan that works.
Day 1: Pick one job. Choose a single call type to start with, like answering new inbound leads or calling back web form submissions. One clear job is easier to script, test and measure than five.
Day 2: Write down what a great call sounds like. List the three or four questions your best salesperson always asks, the answers to your most common questions, and the point where a human should take over. That becomes the agent's script.
Day 3: Connect your lead sources and calendar. The agent should know where leads come from and how to book a time with your team. If it can't book, it can't close the loop.
Day 4: Test it yourself. Call it from your own phone. Interrupt it, ask off-script questions, give vague answers. Fix anything that sounds robotic or confusing before a real customer hears it.
Day 5: Go live with a small slice. Route a portion of calls to the agent, not all of them. Keep a human closer ready for the handoffs.
Days 6 and 7: Listen and adjust. Read the transcripts, note where callers got stuck, and tighten the script. Small edits in the first week pay off for months.
After that first week, you can add the next call type with real data behind you instead of guesses.
That's the approach we take with Ozkra: an AI voice agent paired with human closers, rolled out one job at a time. Want help planning your first week? Talk to us.
